HISTORICAL INFORMATION ON OLDBURY, LANGLEY & WARLEY

The purpose of this website is to make historical information on the Oldbury area widely available.

Boundaries are changed at the whim of authorities, and the present 'Oldbury' district includes Tividale, which had never been part of Oldbury, and excludes parts of Rood End and Warley that had been in Oldbury for centuries! We will take the 1935 'Borough of Oldbury' area as a basis, together with parts of Warley transferred to Smethwick in the 1920s, but the edges of the area will necessarily be a little blurred.

It will take some time to put all the previous research into a suitable format, and articles will be added gradually as they become available. We welcome information that could be included, and suggestions for topics of interest.

An overview of Oldbury since 1000AD is given in 'The Story of Oldbury'.

Information may be accessed via a timeline, a list of the articles available, or an index of names, places and subjects.
