QUESTIONS - CAN WE HELP? - CAN YOU HELP?

This page is the place where we can pose some of the questions raised by the research undertaken by the local history groups or individuals. If you have a local history question, or can answer one of them, please contact us through the 'general' e-mail address. We will only include family history questions where they have a local history interest.

1

The banner for the Air Training Corps 309 (Oldbury) Squadron is laid up in Christchurch, Oldbury. We are trying to trace the history of this squadron for the Vicar of Oldbury. We have established that it operated from 1941 during and after WW2 and was associated with Oldbury Grammar, Bristnall Hall and Albright Schools.

Does anyone have photographs, documents, badges, memories or any other information on 309 Squadron?

2

Langley Local History Society is researching the shops and trades of Langley for a book to be published (hopefully) in Autumn 2009.

Does anyone have photographs, documents or memories of Langley shops?

3

The Black Country Living Museum has three buildings from Birmingham Road which they will erect as part of the new '1930s' development at the museum. They are seeking information on the shops in Birmingham Road situated between the 'Perrott Arms' and Broadwell Road, particularly from the inter-war period.

Does anyone have photographs or memories of these shops in Birmingham Road?

4

An enquiry from Canada to this site is asking about information on the hostel on the Wolverhampton Road at Causeway Green in the late 1940s and 1950s.

Can anyone provide information or photographs of the hostel or its residents?

5

We have received an enquiry for information on a firm of coal merchants and/or canal carriers called Wood Brothers who had a wharf in Oldbury in the 1950s.

Does anyone have information on Wood Brothers?
